Some were made without the stars of the first two. Very few people remember these sequels, and they all vary in quality. They all still take place during the Christmas season, so they may be worth the watch for those who have not seen them. Unlike the previous film, Home Alone 3 , this brings back the characters from the first two movies.

However, they are all played by different actors. It still takes place during the Christmas holidays, and the events occur soon after the events of the first two films. When his parents plan to get a divorce, Kevin stays at his future stepmother's big house where his old rival, Marv, along with his wife decide to break in. For a TV movie, it is not a bad film. It has its good moments, and the slapstick antics in the film are fun to watch for all fans of the franchise.

Linz could have the honor of being left on his own to singlehandedly take down potentially dangerous criminals in the installment, Home Alone 3. So at the very least, the first film connects to the newest installment, though it's unclear if there will be any other connections. Home Alone 2 is a direct sequel to the first movie, starring the same classic characters. For now, it's not been revealed if any other original characters will return, although it's certainly possible.

However, actor Macaulay Calkin, who played protagonist Kevin McCallister, recently tweeted that he does not have a cameo in the reboot. Released five years after the last movie, Home Alone 3 is the first in the series to have a completely different set of characters. Not a single returning actor or character appears throughout, and there's no reference to the events of previous films.
