At least I am going to be able to watch all my stored data vanish into virtual space. I am not breathing easy anyway.

I tell myself this is an adventure and literally have to stop myself grabbing my precious Blackberry back and making a quick escape. But in exactly six minutes this kid handed my Blackberry back.

He had changed the part and cleaned and serviced the whole phone. Taken it apart, and put it together. As I turned the phone on there was a horrific 2 minutes where the phone would not come on.

I looked at him with such hostility that he stepped back. But then the phone came on and my data was still there. Everyone watching laughed and clapped. This was becoming a show. A six minute show. I asked him how much.

He ventured uncertainly. People around watched in glee expecting a negotiation. Much to the disappointment of the expectant crowd. I smiled at the future of our country. If only we could learn to harness this potential. Now I am feeling seriously unclean. God works in mysterious ways to feed the illiterate, in the streets of India.

Imagine, what if these poor kids had some education…. I feel nothing but great admiration for these kids, as they could easily choose demeaning jobs to survive. I feel sad after reading this story because India is full of talents like this. I am myself aware of such talented people.

The biggest problem in India is corrupt political leaders who interfere in every thing and cause the biggest damage. Second, imagine the amount of money stashed in Swiss bank? Where and how can you fund the research projects. As a trained physician, I have been saying that we should have a centralised medical library service in India.

This will go a long way to help in preventing the medical grads emigrating, PG teaching will improve, better higher researches will be done and we shall have the right person in the right place. One foreign book of medicine costs through your nose.

If we can groom authors in India, it will save a huge amount of foreign exchange on buying these costly books, equipments etc. But they are all busy in stashing the money in Swiss and other banks away from National developmental activities.
